Dental Implants in India for Canadian patients: costs and planning
Also for patients from: United States (USD) · United Kingdom (GBP) · UAE (AED)
Quick answer
Budget for the complete implant restoration and your travel from Canada. Clinic prices and comparison-site ranges use different inclusions; an implant-only figure is not a complete implant-and-crown quote. Compare the complete trip in Canadian dollars and make a plan for follow-up after you return to Canada. Use the source table below, then ask for a provider-confirmed estimate.

Ask for separate lines for the implant, abutment, crown, scans, any grafting, temporary teeth and each visit. Published ranges are research references; the treating provider must confirm the current price and your plan.

Partha Dental publishes an indicative ₹28,000–₹60,000 single-tooth band with crown; its page is dated July 2025. This is a research reference, not your current quote.
Eternal Hospital separately lists ₹20,000–₹40,000 for the implant and ₹10,000–₹30,000 for the crown. Confirm the abutment, imaging and any extra work separately.
Provider pages checked on 5 October 2026. Other dollar ranges below come from comparison publications and must not be read as a confirmed clinic offer.
Converted from published USD at ~C$1.38 per US dollar for readability. Indian clinics that publish in rupees are shown in rupees. All figures are indicative.
| Procedure | India (USD, published) | ≈ CAD | India (INR, clinic pages) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Implant + crown, one tooth | $200–$9001, 2 | C$280–C$1,240 | ₹28,000–₹60,000 incl. crown5 |
| Implant-supported bridge | Case-specific | — | ₹40,000–₹80,0006 |
| All-on-4, per arch | $3,000–$7,0001, 2, 3 | C$4,140–C$9,660 | ₹1.5–4 lakh5, 6 |
| All-on-6 or 3-on-6, per arch | Case-specific | — | ₹2–5 lakh5, 6 |
| Upper and lower arches | $10,000–$18,000 treatment1 | C$13,800–C$24,840 | About ₹4 lakh and up6 |
| Bone grafting | Case-specific | — | ₹5,000–₹15,0005 |
A Canadian quote of C$3,800–C$4,800 for one implant, or C$4,800–C$6,400 at a premium clinic, matches 2026 reference pricing for the implant, abutment and crown. Imaging, grafts and sedation are billed on top.4 Whether you're in Mississauga, Calgary or Halifax, the question behind that number is the same: is a long trip to India worth it once everything is converted to Canadian dollars? This page runs those numbers honestly, including the cases where Mexico is the better call.
What Canadians are actually comparing
Provincial health plans are built around medically necessary care, and adult dental implants generally fall outside them. Workplace dental benefits vary a lot, and many put a yearly dollar ceiling on major restorative work. Read your own plan booklet or call your insurer. Don't rely on what a friend's plan covered. If you're enrolled in a federal dental program, check its current coverage list directly rather than assuming implants are included.
| Where | Mid-tier | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Canada | C$3,800–C$4,800 | C$4,800–C$6,400 |
| Mexico (USD, as published) | $1,400–$2,200 (≈ C$1,930–C$3,040) | $2,200–$3,200 (≈ C$3,040–C$4,420) |
The Maloney Review, 2026 reference (Q2 2026 quotes). It excludes CBCT, grafts, sedation, temporaries and travel, and has no India row.4
Receipts and tax. Canada has a federal medical expense tax credit, and people often ask whether dental work abroad counts. We don't give tax advice. Keep itemized English receipts and ask a tax professional, or check CRA guidance, before you count on any credit.
India, Mexico or Turkey from Canada?
Geography matters more than the sticker price. From British Columbia or Alberta, a Mexican border clinic is a short hop through the US, so a second visit for the crown costs little. One India-vs-Mexico breakdown puts a single implant at roughly $1,000–$1,800 USD all-in for Mexico (≈ C$1,380–C$2,480) and $1,500–$2,500 for India (≈ C$2,070–C$3,450) once long-haul flights and a hotel are added.1 For one tooth, Mexico usually wins.
Full-arch work is different. The same source estimates a both-arches All-on-4 case at about $12,000–$21,000 USD all-in in India (≈ C$16,560–C$28,980), with flights and roughly 12 hotel nights, against about $17,000–$32,000 in Mexico.1 It promotes India trips, so check it against your own quotes. Turkey is the third option. A Mexico-based clinic group describes it as a 10-hour-plus trip for North Americans that makes sense mainly for large cases.7
Replacing one molar and living near Vancouver? Mexico is probably simpler. Rebuilding a whole arch, with time to make two trips? India deserves a proper quote next to the others.
Trip math in Canadian dollars
Budget in CAD from the start, and ask each clinic which currency it invoices in. Many Indian clinics quote in US dollars, and card foreign-exchange fees add up on a large deposit. Your list:
- Treatment line by line: implant, abutment, crown, grafts, temporaries
- CBCT and consultation if charged separately
- Two return flights, often via a connection, unless loading is immediate
- Accommodation and meals for each stay
- Time away from work, and whether a companion comes
- A 15–20% cushion for a remake or an extra visit
Most staged implant plans leave 3–6 months between placement and the final teeth, so the second trip is part of the cost, not a bonus.

Coming home to your own dentist
Ask your regular dentist, before you travel, whether they'll monitor and maintain an implant placed abroad, and which systems they can restore. Dentists in Canada are licensed by provincial regulatory bodies, so if you change dentists, your province's dental regulator can confirm a licence. The Government of Canada's India travel advice includes a medical tourism note: some Canadians have had serious complications after elective procedures abroad. Read it, and plan who you'd call if something went wrong after you're home.8

How to compare Indian clinics without a ranking
We don't publish clinic rankings. Instead, check:
- Accreditation on the accreditor's own website: NABH in India, JCI for some hospital groups9, 10
- The implant product by name, and whether it's cleared or marked for sale in major markets
- The surgeon's experience with your type of case. Ask directly; we don't publish unverifiable volumes.
- A written staged plan with any grafts listed
- Remote follow-up: India is 9½ hours ahead of Toronto and 12½ ahead of Vancouver during daylight time, so agree on video-call times
Visa and a winter-friendly timeline
Canadians need a visa for India, and Global Affairs Canada points travellers to the official Indian visa portal.8 The e-Medical visa is applied for online at least 4 days before arrival, and up to two companions can receive e-Medical Attendant visas.11 Nonstop flights from Toronto and Vancouver to India exist on some schedules. Many itineraries connect through Europe, the Gulf or Asia. Plenty of Canadians plan treatment trips for the cooler months in North India, roughly October to March.
- Share recent X-rays or a CBCT for a remote review
- Get an itemized estimate, with its currency (CAD or USD) stated
- Check your benefits booklet so you know what isn't covered
- Apply for the e-Medical visa on the official portal
- First trip: confirm the scan, consent, place the implants
- Heal at home for a few months
- Second trip for the final teeth, then book a check-up with your dentist in Canada

FAQ: dental implants in India for Canadian patients
Will a dentist in Canada maintain an implant done in India?
Many will if you bring the implant brand, lot number, scans and surgical notes, and they can restore that system. They aren't required to fix a failure covered by a foreign warranty, which may require a return trip. Ask before you book.
Does my provincial plan or dental benefit cover implants abroad?
Provincial plans generally don't cover adult implants. Workplace benefits vary and often cap major work. Check your own plan in writing, and keep itemized receipts. Ask a tax professional about the medical expense tax credit rather than assuming it applies.
Is Mexico cheaper than India for Canadians?
For a single implant, usually yes once travel is counted, especially from Western Canada. For a full arch, published all-in estimates can favour India. Compare real quotes, including two trips.
How long will I be in India?
Around a week for placement, then usually a second trip 3–6 months later for the final teeth. Immediate-load All-on-4 can shorten that when your bone allows it. Get the plan in writing.
What should the written quote include?
Implant brand and system, abutment, crown material, imaging and consults, grafts, temporaries, second-stage fees, sedation, follow-ups, warranty terms, and the invoice currency (CAD or USD).
Do Canadians need a visa for dental treatment in India?
Yes. India's e-Medical visa is applied for online through the official portal at least 4 days before arrival, and up to two companions can get e-Medical Attendant visas. Check current rules on the portal.
