Dental Implants in India for UK patients: costs and planning
Also for patients from: United States (USD) · Canada (CAD) · UAE (AED)
Quick answer
Budget for the complete implant restoration and your travel from UK. Clinic prices and comparison-site ranges use different inclusions; an implant-only figure is not a complete implant-and-crown quote. Compare the complete India trip in pounds with your UK private quote, including follow-up at home. Use the source table below, then ask for a provider-confirmed estimate.

Ask for separate lines for the implant, abutment, crown, scans, any grafting, temporary teeth and each visit. Published ranges are research references; the treating provider must confirm the current price and your plan.

Partha Dental publishes an indicative ₹28,000–₹60,000 single-tooth band with crown; its page is dated July 2025. This is a research reference, not your current quote.
Eternal Hospital separately lists ₹20,000–₹40,000 for the implant and ₹10,000–₹30,000 for the crown. Confirm the abutment, imaging and any extra work separately.
Provider pages checked on 5 October 2026. Other dollar ranges below come from comparison publications and must not be read as a confirmed clinic offer.
Indicative bands only. Sterling is converted from published USD at ~£0.74 per dollar; clinic figures in rupees are shown as the clinics print them.

If a practice in Leeds or Surrey has quoted you £2,400–£3,200 for one implant, or up to £4,800 at the premium end, that's in line with 2026 UK reference pricing for the fixture, abutment and crown alone.4 Scans, grafting and sedation usually come on top. This page is for UK readers who are genuinely weighing India, with sterling figures, an honest look at Turkey, and what happens with your own dentist once you're home.
What you're comparing against in the UK
For most adults, implants are a private purchase. The NHS's top charge in England, Band 3 at £332.10, covers crowns, bridges and dentures. Implants aren't on that list, so an NHS dentist will usually steer you towards one of those instead, or refer you privately.7 Dental insurance and cash plans rarely cover much of an implant, so check your policy's limits before assuming anything.
| Where | Mid-tier | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| UK private | £2,400–£3,200 | £3,200–£4,800 |
| Turkey (USD, as published) | $900–$1,600 (≈ £670–£1,180) | $1,600–$2,400 (≈ £1,180–£1,780) |
The Maloney Review's 2026 country reference (Q2 2026 quotes), excluding CBCT, grafts, sedation, temporaries and travel. It publishes no India row, so India appears only in the table above, from other sources.4
Pay attention to the currency too. Many Indian clinics invoice in rupees or dollars. Your bank or card may add a foreign-transaction fee on top of its own exchange rate, which is worth knowing before you pay a four-figure deposit.
India or Turkey? An honest comparison from Britain
From the UK, the destination that competes with India isn't Mexico, it's Turkey. Istanbul or Antalya is a much shorter flight than Delhi or Mumbai, which makes the second visit for the permanent teeth far less of an ordeal. On published full-arch prices the two overlap: one roundup lists Turkey's All-on-4 at $3,000–$5,500 per arch (≈ £2,220–£4,070) and India's at $3,500–$7,000 (≈ £2,590–£5,180).3 Another comparison puts a single implant at $500–$1,200 in Turkey and $400–$800 in India.2 Both sources are clinic marketers, so read them as rough bands.
Where India can make a case for UK patients: hospital-linked dental departments in the big cities, quotes that name the implant system line by line, and English-language records. Where Turkey tends to win: flight time, and hotel-plus-transfer packages that are simple to buy. Neither country guarantees quality. That depends on the clinic.
If you need one implant and want to be home by the weekend, Turkey, or even a UK practice with a payment plan, may honestly suit you better. If you're replacing a whole arch and want the brand written on the invoice, India deserves a proper quote.
Is one implant worth a flight to India from the UK?
Usually not on its own. A long-haul return fare, several hotel nights and a second trip for the crown can swallow most of the gap on a single tooth. The sums change for multi-unit work. One India-focused analysis puts a both-arches All-on-4 case at roughly $12,000–$21,000 (≈ £8,880–£15,540) including flights and about 12 hotel nights. That's a promoter's worked example, not a promise.1
For UK households the hidden cost is usually annual leave. Plan for two separate trips, typically 3–6 months apart while the bone heals, unless the surgeon puts an immediate-load plan in writing. Add a contingency of 15–20% in sterling for a remake or an unplanned visit.
What your itemised quote should show
UK private practices usually quote fixed prices per stage. Hold an Indian clinic to the same standard:
Ask for it by name
- Implant system and model, and whether a UK dentist can get parts for it
- Abutment: stock or custom-milled
- Crown material and lab
- 3D scan (CBCT) and consultation charges
- Temporary teeth between visits
- Fee for the second-stage visit
- Guarantee terms: what's covered, where, and for how long
Frequently left off
- Grafting or a sinus lift
- Sedation or a general anaesthetic
- Flights, accommodation, a companion
- Remedial work if an implant fails
- Upgraded crown materials suggested on the day
- Reviews and hygiene visits back in the UK
Back in the UK: aftercare, your dentist and the NHS
Speak to your own dentist before you go. Some UK dentists are happy to review and maintain an implant placed abroad. Others won't take on remedial work on a system they don't use. Don't assume an NHS practice will fix a problem with private work done overseas. The NHS has its own guidance on going abroad for treatment, including a checklist on the risks.8 If a UK dentist does take you on, you can check their registration on the General Dental Council register.9
Records to collect before you fly home
- Scans and X-rays as digital files
- Implant make, width, length and batch/lot number
- Torque readings and surgical notes
- Abutment and crown details for a UK lab
- A treatment summary in English
- The written guarantee, including travel costs if a repair must be done in India
- A large deposit before any scan or written plan
- No implant brand, or “same quality as Straumann” with nothing in writing
- A “lifetime guarantee” with no terms attached
- Pressure to remove healthy teeth or add veneers
- Prices well below every published range
Choosing an Indian clinic without a league table
We don't rank clinics, and we'd be wary of any “best 10” list, which is often paid placement. Use criteria you can check:
- Accreditation: NABH for Indian hospitals and clinics, or JCI for some hospital groups. Verify on the accreditor's website, not the clinic's.10, 11
- Implant system: a named product with CE marking, and ideally one UK labs already support
- The clinician: who places the implants and their experience with your kind of case. Ask them; we don't publish numbers we can't verify.
- A written, staged plan: immediate or delayed loading, any grafting stated
- Remote follow-up: video reviews once you're back, allowing for India being 4½ hours ahead in summer and 5½ in winter
Visa, flights and leave: a UK timeline
British passport holders can apply online for India's e-Medical visa. The official portal asks for applications at least 4 days before arrival, and up to two companions can get e-Medical Attendant visas.12 Read the FCDO's India travel advice before booking.13 Direct flights from London take roughly nine hours.
- Email recent X-rays or a CBCT for a remote opinion
- Get an itemised estimate, in GBP or with the exchange rate stated
- Book annual leave for two trips, unless immediate loading is confirmed in writing
- Apply for the e-Medical visa on the official portal only
- First visit: scan check, consent, implant placement
- Healing at home, usually several months
- Second visit for the permanent teeth, then hand your records to your UK dentist

FAQ: dental implants in India for UK patients
Will my UK dentist look after an implant placed in India?
Some will, if you bring the implant make, batch number, scans and surgical notes, and their lab can source parts for that system. They don't have to take on remedial work under a foreign clinic's guarantee. Ask before you travel, not after something goes wrong.
Can I get dental implants on the NHS instead?
Rarely for routine tooth replacement. NHS Band 3 (£332.10 in England) covers crowns, bridges and dentures, and implants aren't on that list. Your NHS dentist can explain the alternatives. Most UK adults who choose implants pay privately.
Is Turkey better than India for UK patients?
Often for small cases, because the flight is much shorter and return visits are easier. Published full-arch prices overlap between the two countries. India can be worth quoting for larger cases where you want the implant system and every stage itemised in writing.
How many trips will I need?
Usually two, a few months apart, so the bone can heal before the permanent teeth are fitted. Immediate-load All-on-4 can reduce that for some patients. Get the plan and the number of visits in writing.
What should an itemised quote include?
The implant system and model, abutment type, crown material, CBCT and consultation, any graft or sinus lift, temporary teeth, second-stage fees, sedation, reviews and the written guarantee, including where repairs must be done.
Do I need a visa?
Yes. British citizens need a visa for India, and there's an e-Medical visa for treatment, applied for online through the official Indian government portal at least 4 days before arrival. Check the FCDO's India travel advice as well.
